Trade Unions and Youth Groups Demand Freedom for Ehsan Ali and the AAC

As our campaign to free Ehsan Ali and the other imprisoned leaders of the Awami Action Committee continues, a number of major trade unions and youth groups have passed motions and made statements in solidarity.

The British Medical Association (BMA) – a trade union representing over 200,000 doctors in Britain – recently stated that it is “imperative” that Ehsan Ali receives “access to timely and appropriate medical treatment” and called for his release.

In Czechia, the Young Greens – a prominent youth organisation with ties to the Czech Green Party – have also voiced their support, highlighting the poor conditions that the AAC leaders are being held in.

In addition, two major branches of the University and College Union (UCU) in Britain have recently passed motions expressing their support. Sheffield UCU and University College London UCU both voted to back the campaign.

We encourage all our supporters to pass similar motions through their trade unions or student unions – a model motion can be found here.
