Trade unions, politicians and musicians across North America demand Ehsan Ali’s release!

Ehsan Ali campaign banner

As momentum builds in the run up to the 4 June international day of action, our campaign to free Ehsan Ali and the other unjustly imprisoned leaders of the Awami Action Committee has received the backing of a number of prominent figures and organisations across North America.

The full list of supporters of the campaign can be found here.

CUPE 4400 – a branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees with 17,000 members – has now backed the campaign. In addition, the campaign is now supported by leading officials and branches across the country from other major trade unions such as: the Amalgamated Transit Union; the Concordia University Union of Support Staff; the British Columbia General Employees Union; United Food and Commercial Workers; the Grain and General Services Union; Service Employees International Union, and others!

A number of prominent Canadian political figures are also now backing our efforts to free Ehsan Ali. These include writer, activist and 2026 New Democratic Party leadership candidate Yves Engler, as well as city councillors in Edmonton and Oshawa.

Finally, well-known musician and long-term outspoken advocate on issues of social justice, David Rovics has not just expressed support, but has created a song calling for Ehsan Ali’s release. You can listen to Free Ehsan Ali here!

The support of prominent figures and organisations is invaluable for our campaign, and brings further attention to the criminal suppression of the Awami Action Committee by the Pakistani authorities.
We will not rest until Ehsan Ali and the AAC leaders have been freed! Join us at protests on 4 June, as we say #FreeEhsanAli #ReleaseEhsanAli #HandsOffTheAAC
